MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon Arts Consortium (MVAC) announced that country music singer-songwriter Pam Tillis will perform on Oct. 7 at the Knox Memorial Theater.
Details of ticket sales and additional performers and events will be announced soon, according to the MVAC.
The next MVAC concert will be Through the Years, presented by the Community Concert Association on Sunday, April 23.
The Kenny Rogers Band – the actual touring band, not a tribute band – featuring Don Gatlin will perform at Knox Memorial at 112 East High St., Mount Vernon. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting an hour later on Sunday, April 23. General admission tickets cost $25 and are available online at mvac.org/through-the-years.
“All of the partners have been working very hard behind the scenes on our combined season, and we’re thrilled to share the news with the public,” Martin Booker, executive director of the Mount Vernon Arts Consortium, said. “Each organization is dedicated to providing high-caliber talent for our region, and demonstrating to people that Mount Vernon is a true entertainment destination.”
The Knox Memorial also will be the site for the Thornton Wilder play “Our Town,” presented by MTVarts Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7. Tickets are available at mvac.org/our-town. “Our Town” presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage" and “Death and Eternity.”
Ariel-Foundation Park will celebrate the Fourth of July with Parrotheads, as Parrots of the Caribbean will perform at the Schnormeier Event Center at 10 Pittsburgh Ave. The free summer concert will pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band on July 4 at 7 p.m. prior to the city’s fireworks celebration at 10 p.m. Food trucks will be onsite, and beverages will be available for purchase inside the event center.
Sister Act will perform at the Woodward Opera House on July 8-16, presented by MTVarts.
Starship featuring Mickey Thomas will be the headliners for the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival with the concert on the Public Square at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. Tickets are available at mvac.org/starship.
A concert by the trio Starlets will be on Oct. 5 at the Knox Memorial Theater, presented by the Community Concert Association of Knox County. The venue will host Sounds of Silence on Nov. 8 in a presentation by the Community Concert Association of Knox County.
The Reagan Years Dance Party comes to the Woodward Opera House on Oct. 20, presented by MVAC.
Audiences will have the chance to watch a holiday classic come to life as a 1940s radio broadcast with “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” put on stage Nov. 24-26 on the stage at the Knox Memorial Theater. Ticket sales will be announced soon.
And the Central Ohio Youth Ballet will perform “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 9-10 at the Woodward Opera House.
Partners in the Mount Vernon Arts Consortium include the Community Concert Association of Knox County, MTVarts, and the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival.
Three historic venues provide places to showcase the arts: the Knox Memorial Theater in the Knox County Memorial Building; Ariel-Foundation Park; and the Woodward Opera House, America’s oldest authentic 19th century theater.
