Wayne Grange met on March 17, at 7 p.m. There were seven members, two children and four guests present. Master Bev Edwards opened the meeting.

Jordan Miller, legislative chairperson, reported that the O.S.U. Extension Office is hosting signups for the conservation practice. This is an annual signup for all in the county.

Bev Edwards, family activities chairperson, reported that we served 62 meals at the Knox County Trustees banquet on March 14. Edwards thanked all that helped with preparing the food, serving the food and helped clean up. The next dinner will be June 13.

Margaret Ann Ruhl, community service chairperson, reported that she has received the application to sell home-produced items at the Fredericktown Farmers Market. We have a few less bakers, so be prepared to make more items or work more dates. Ruhl will have a proposed schedule at the next meeting. Deb Hamilton and Ruhl brought wooden Easter Eggs to do as a new project. We are asking all members to take the wooden eggs home, color them and put their initials on the back. They were to be returned to Ruhl by April 1 at the Dartball Tournament. The wooden eggs were distributed to the nursing homes in the area and to some of our members that are in nursing homes.

Cathy Morey, deaf chairperson, reported that the Ohio State Grange does not have a deaf chairperson, so she has not had any communication. It was decided to look into getting items for the Ohio Deaf School in Columbus. Edwards will check on what they are in need of to continue working with the students.

All Grangers are to continue collection eyeglasses and hearing aid batteries. We were to get them to Deputy Cindy Campbell by May 6.

The Baking Contest was judged by Bill and Karen Moody. Our thanks for coming to taste all the cookies and picking our winners from a total of 11 entries. Winner of the Everything Cookie was Margaret Ann Ruhl; Men's Cook Whip Cookies was Jordan Miller; Buckeye Brownies was Belinda Litt; Seven-Layer Cookie was Bev Edwards and the Junior Grange 8 and under was a Sprinkle Drop Cookie with winner being Clara Miller. Reminder to be working on your crafts and photos for the July meeting.

Old Business was the picnic shelter house, which when the weather is good, Jeff Robinson will come and take it down. Jordan Miller was looking into a new flag pole, Belinda Litt has one that she will donate to the grange and it was decided to put the flag pole back where it was.

New Business was the upcoming Farm-City Dinner. Deputy Cindy Campbell announced it was April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramser 4-H Building on the Fairgrounds. Cost was $10 per person and all reservations were to be turned in to Campbell by April 7. Campbell also asked all granges for two door prizes and the oldest member of Wayne Grange. There was a raffle. Jordan Miller brought one door prize and Deb Hamilton brought the other. Robert Gregg is our oldest member, since he turned 100 in March.

State Dartball was April 1 at the Old Fredericktown High School gymnasium. All captains were to be there by 9 a.m. with the tournament starting at 10 a.m. Knox County provided the lunch menu. Campbell asked all granges to supply a two-crust pie, with Wayne bringing six pies. The Knox County Dartball tournament was March 26 at Morgan Grange.

Due to many members from Wayne Grange being sick or not able to attend, Ned Campbell was our lecturer and had the program. Campbell read "What is St. Patrick's Day" from the National Grange newsletter and he read some jokes about St. Patrick's Day.

It was Wayne Grange's inspection and due to the lack of members, we asked to only be evaluated and not judged. We didn't have enough members to put on a degree as we have in the past. Deputy Cindy Campbell was glad that we still do the grange opening and closing. We are very active in the community and complete many different projects throughout the year. Campbell encouraged Wayne to continue our active work.

Members needing thoughts and concerns were Robert Gregg on his 100th birthday in March; update on Elaine Hillier, who was at Country Court; Esther Balcom, who was at Ohio Eastern Star Home; John Beutel, who had a heart procedure; Terri Moore, who was at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Ed Moore who was taking care of Terri.

The next meeting was April 21 at 7 p.m. with an Easter Egg Hunt at Wayne Grange.
