MOUNT VERNON – Local radio station WNZR 90.9 FM is launching a fundraising campaign to take place between March 29 and April 3 with three challenge levels for listeners to show their support.
According to a press release, this year’s goal is $65,000, and the theme is "God Is In This Story," based on the song from Katy Nichole and Big Daddy Weave. The theme verse for Lifeline 2023 is Isaiah 41:10 – "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." This verse echoes God’s promise that no matter where we are in our individual stories, he’s there.
“We know without a doubt that God has been in the story of WNZR since the beginning, and he influences our story each day when we trust in him,” said Marcy Rinehart, WNZR station manager and co-host of "The Morning Thing." “The lyrics remind us that in our highs and lows, he’s already gone before us.”
Joe Rinehart, MVNU’s director of broadcasting and co-host of WNZR’s "Afternoon Drive," said they are thankful for the support WNZR has received throughout the years.
“Your support helps us stay focused on what we’re all about — broadcasting an uplifting message that encourages listeners and families every day,” Rinehart said. “Your partnership is also an investment in our students to develop their communication skills and discover purpose in their lives.”
Lifeline 2023 appreciation gifts will be given for donations at designated levels. Everyone donating will receive a Lifeline 2023 refrigerator magnet. Donors giving $10 per month will receive an NIV Bible with a special WNZR stamp and the “The Promise of Forgiveness” Easter Devotional from Our Daily Bread. The official Lifeline 2023 t-shirt will be given for gifts of $25 per month. A WNZR Duffle Bag will be given for donations of $50 per month.
Special challenges are scheduled during Lifeline 2023:
- The Lifeline Challenge encourages families to support WNZR’s ministry and asks for a monthly donation of $25 over the next 12 months.
- The Lifeline Choice Challenge is Thursday, March 30, from 4-6 p.m. In return for their pledges, donors will have the opportunity to receive gift cards to restaurants, including Southside Diner, Papa John’s Pizza and Wendy’s of Mount Vernon.
- Matching Challenge Day is Friday, March 31. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., listeners will have a chance to have their pledge money doubled.
WNZR 90.9 FM, a Mount Vernon Nazarene University broadcast ministry, is celebrating 36 years as Knox County’s hometown Christian radio station. WNZR broadcasts contemporary Christian music, family-oriented programs, sports, news and weather 24 hours a day.
