ZANESVILLE — The Zanesville Museum of Art is now seeking applications for the prestigious 77th Ohio Annual Exhibition.
This juried exhibition, which has been held online for the past two years, will return onsite at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Artists who live or have lived in Ohio are invited to apply for this juried exhibition.
In 2022, over four hundred artists vied for the opportunity to feature their work in the exhibition and earn the title Best in Show. The Ohio Annual recognizes the extraordinary fine art and fine craft created in the Buckeye State and celebrates the museum’s commitment to discovering, encouraging, and recognizing Ohio’s finest artists and artisans.
The application deadline for the 77th Ohio Annual Exhibition is Tuesday, March 28. The exhibition accepts applications in the following categories: painting, all types; drawing, prints and collage; sculpture; jewelry and functional metalwork; ceramics; glass; photography; and fiber art, textiles and quilts. Interested artists can visit ZanesvilleArt.org to learn more and apply to the exhibition.
Exhibition returning onsite
For the first time in three years, the Ohio Annual will be onsite in the ZMA’s Great Gallery. Artists accepted into the exhibition will have their work viewed in-person by thousands of visitors.
“It’s so exciting to have this important and unique exhibition back onsite at the museum,” ZMA Collection Coordinator Kathryne Applegate said. “It’s been several years since the Ohio Annual has been held in person, and we’re thrilled to give local artists the opportunity to present their work in a museum setting again.”
Initiatives planned during the exhibition
The ZMA is planning several exciting initiatives around this prestigious exhibition to celebrate Ohio art and artists. A gallery talk featuring the Best in Show winner will take place at the museum. Visitors will learn the artistic process and inspirations of the winner of this year’s Best in Show award.
