Habitat for Humanity of Knox County to begin open application period for homeownership program

MOUNT VERNON – Habitat for Humanity of Knox County, Ohio will open the application period for up to two families for the construction of a home.

Applicants must meet Habitat for Humanity requirements of need for quality housing, ability to pay a low-interest mortgage and willingness to partner with Habitat throughout the project. 

Habitat for Humanity of Knox County has served over 30 families since their founding in 1987, and looks to continue their commitment to building homes, communities and hope in Knox County with the construction of two homes in 2023 and 2024. After completion of the projects, selected individuals or families will pay an affordable mortgage on a 0% or low-interest loan. 

Interested individuals can request an application at the Habitat for Humanity Office & ReStore located at 13246 Wooster Rd. during store hours, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. Applications will also be available for download on the website at hfhknoxoh.org/what-we-do. Interested individuals can also request an application by emailing knoxcountyhabitat@hfhknoxoh.org. Applications will be available March 1-31. No applications will be accepted after the date.

Affiliate representatives will host virtual Q&A sessions daily Feb. 28 through March 3 at 6 p.m. Interested individuals are encouraged to check the affiliate’s website, or social media pages for links to the virtual sessions. Attendance to a Q&A session is encouraged but not required to complete an application. Individuals unable to attend a Q&A session can schedule an appointment with the affiliate director.
