LOUDONVILLE – The Cleo Redd Fisher (CRF) Museum in Loudonville is recruiting new volunteers for the upcoming year and will host an open house for those interested in becoming involved. The open house will include an introduction to the museum and the different roles volunteers fulfill with the organization, such as interpreters, educators, collections assistants and more.
According to the museum’s curator, Kenny Libben, volunteers are essential in sharing the museum’s rich collections, exhibitions, research and programming. Volunteers are considered part of the staff, serving as stakeholders in the organization and helping shape the museum’s future.
“We’re always honored when someone is willing to join our team and share their time with us, adding new perspectives on history and how we can connect with our community,” he said.
The CRF Museum is nationally recognized and features award-winning staff and volunteers, including multiple volunteers previously honored by the Ohio Local History Alliance and the Ohio Museums Association. The museum welcomes approximately 10,000 visitors each year. What surprises people the most, Libben said, is that the museum is not affiliated with the village and receives no public funding – instead relying on donors' generosity – and admission is free for all visitors.
The open house will be held on Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. The museum is located at 203 E. Main St. in Loudonville. Those interested in volunteering but unable to attend are encouraged to visit crfmuseum.com/volunteer for information and to fill out a volunteer application form.
