People want reasonable access to recycling

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

I think just about everyone agrees that we all need to work together to help save our planet and reduce our carbon footprints.

To this end, we all need to take recycling seriously. Those of you who have curbside recycling available are very fortunate. However, for the rest of us who live outside the city limits and want to recycle, drop-off areas need to be more convenient. Since the recycle bins were removed this past summer for lime removal at the Harcourt Road/229 collection point, those bins have not been replaced and we have been told that there is no recycling bins, nor will there be, within the city limits.

I understand that some people leave trash on the ground around the bins, which they should not do. But people really do want to recycle and would like to have bins easily accessible to everyone.

Can anything be done to help those of us who want to recycle but live outside the city limits? We would love to have the bins brought back so we don't have to put everything in the trash.

Thank you,

Thomas Fish, Mount Vernon
