MOUNT VERNON – Saundra Anne McQueen, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023.
She was born on March 12, 1938, in Knox County to the late Harold and Violet (Cookman) Miller. Saundra worked for over 17 years in food service for the Mount Vernon School System and retired in 2005. She was a member of the Grace Community Church, the Red Hatters, her Friday morning Lunch Bunch and the Chit Chat Canasta Club. Saundra was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, Class of 1956.
She is survived by her daughter Julie (Keith) Chapman, and her nephews, Sam (Carol) Miller and Matthew (Jennifer) Miller.
In addition to her parents, Saundra was preceded in death by her husband Samuel McQueen; her sons, Samuel McQueen Jr. and Joseph McQueen; and her brothers, David Miller, Harold Miller and James Miller.
Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 13, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. A service will be held on Tuesday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Overly and Pastor Roger Tickle officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
