CENTERBURG – James Michael Palmer, 76, of Centerburg passed away on Thursday evening, Dec 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 13, 1946 in Mount Vernon to the late Russell F. and Pauline (Pruett) Palmer.
James retired from PPG Industries in Delaware where he worked in the quality control department. During his years at PPG, he traveled to many places and made many lifelong friends. He was a 1964 graduate of Highland High School where he played both football and basketball. He was a member of the Delaware Moose and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals fan. James never let a few facts get in the way of a good story, and he brought smiles and laughter with him wherever he went. He was always the first to offer help to anyone who needed it and he loved his friends and family with his whole heart.
James is survived by his children, Bethany Palmer of Centerburg, Jamie (Don) Wallace of Huntsville and Russell Palmer and Leslie Wasman of Centerburg; grandsons Dustin (Robin) Redd, Gunner Redd, Hunter Redd and Zane Wallace; great-grandchildren Dominick, Robin, Charlotte, Declan, Jameson and Emma. James also leaves behind two loving ex-wives Letha George and Brenda Palmer.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister Patty Blankenship.
The family will have a memorial celebration of life honoring James at a later date.
