MOUNT VERNON – Donald Neil Dalrymple, 83, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born on Thursday, Dec. 15, 1938, in Mount Vernon to the late John Lloyd and Dorothy Louise (Pugh) Dalrymple.

Donald attended Ohio State University and was a devoted Buckeyes fan. He honorably served his country in the military. Don was a second-generation electrician and owned and operated the family business, Dalrymple Electric in Mount Vernon, for many years. Don and his late wife, Marie, also owned and operated a Christmas Tree Farm. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks #140 in Mount Vernon. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter traveling to the Upper Peninsula and Montana, where he established a lasting friendship with the Pugrud family (Winnett, MT).

Don played Santa Clause for 60 years for many area communities and civic organizations. He was infamous for his humorous one-liners.

Donald is survived by his children, Shawn Dalrymple of Mount Vernon and Dawn Dalrymple of Milford, Connecticut.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marie Anne (Higgins) Dalrymple, June 6, 2020; and a sister, Ellen Louise (Dalrymple) Shultz.
