MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Foundation is excited to announce its second annual Giving BACK Tuesday campaign beginning Tuesday, Nov. 29, and running through Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is the kick start to the giving season and is considered a global movement, a day that encourages people to do good and inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

Last year, the Foundation put a unique spin on the global Giving Tuesday movement and decided to give grants out rather than trying to raise funds for the foundation during the movement. This year, the foundation is once again asking individuals to help them give back to local organizations serving the community through their own Giving BACK Tuesday campaign.

“Organizations who are nominated and chosen to receive a grant will not have to complete a grant application, which is typically required by nonprofit organizations,” said Lisa Lloyd, program director. “Instead, individuals will simply comment on our social media posts with the name of a nonprofit they would like to nominate, and if selected by our grants committee, we will work with that organization directly to find a project or program to fund in 2023.”

Starting on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, and running through Tuesday, Dec. 13, people can nominate their favorite Knox County nonprofit organization (501c3) to receive one of five small grants. Nominations will be accepted through the Knox County Foundation’s Facebook or Twitter posts.

“Give BACK Tuesday was such a great way to get the community involved last year and it helped the Foundation make new partnerships with local organizations serving the community. We are excited to see if we can get even more community involvement this year,” Lloyd said.

Qualifying nominees must be a local (Knox County) 501(c)3 entity, have not received grant funding from Knox County Foundation in the last 12 months and meet all other grant qualifications and guidelines outlined on their website: www.knoxcf.org/grantmaking-faqs/. Winners will be announced in January 2023 and must be willing to work with the Foundation to identify a program or project to implement in 2023.

Questions can be directed to Lloyd at 740-392-3270 or lisa@knoxcf.org.
