MOUNT VERNON – Russell "Gene" Yarman, 88, was called home Nov. 11, 2022, after a short illness.
Gene was a lifelong member of the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren, a U.S. Army veteran and framer. He was a longtime member of the Knox County Fair Board, Mount Vernon City Schools Transportation Director and "Mayor" of Amity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travel, tractor pulls and getting together with family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Esther Yarman, his wife of 58 years, Jane, and his son, Seth.
He is survived by his sisters, Rosalie (Dinkelacker) and Janice (Noble); four children, Tim, Sara (Hile), Heather (Baer), and Laura; 13 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who will miss his stories, sense of humor and guiding hand.
Calling hours and a memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at The Owl Creek Church of The Brethren, 13241 Toms Road, Bellville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church in Gene's memory.
