Three Found Guilty

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found three guilty after hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Nov. 7, 2022.

Steven Allen, 53, Mount Vernon, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $700 fine, 180 days in jail, with 160 days suspended, two years of community control and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended operator’s license for two years. 

Louis Marti, 42, Mount Vernon, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $500 fine, 180 days in jail, with 175 days suspended, two years of community control and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended operator’s license for one year. 

Chris Underwood, 58, Galena, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $500 fine, 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, two years of community control and must attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended operator’s license for one year. 

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

Nine Found Guilty 

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found nine guilty after arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Nov. 8, 2022.

Christopher Christine, 27, Columbus, operating a vehicle without a valid operator’s license, $200 fine.

Brian Grigsby, 55, Newark, speeding in a School Zone, $50 fine.

Derek Kolk, 44, Manistee, Michigan, speeding in a School Zone, $75 fine.

James Morrison, 58, Oil City, Pa., operating a vehicle with fictitious plates, $75 fine; driving without a valid license, $200 fine; and speeding, $75.

Michael Bryant, 45, Mount Vernon, assault, 124 days in jail; and criminal damaging, 90 days in jail. 

Jeremy Born, 38, Mount Vernon, disorderly conduct with persisting behavior, 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, on one year probation and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment.  

Shawn Caudill, 45, Mount Vernon, possession of drug paraphernalia, 10 days in jail. 

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

Three Found Guilty 

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found three guilty after court trials and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Nov. 9, 2022.

Marvin Herman, 63, Independence Mo., driving left of center, $125 fine.  

Elizabeth Mills, 37, Gahanna, driving under suspension, $200; and speeding, $75.

Christopher Staten, 26, Mount Liberty, driving under an FRA suspension, $250 fine.  

 Law Director Rob Broeren represented the State of Ohio and the City of Mount Vernon in the Mills and Staten cases.  Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio in the Herman case.
