NORTH ROYALTON – Paula Joan Bryson, 82, of North Royalton passed away Nov. 1, 2022, at Medina Hospital of the Cleveland Clinic. Joan was a native Ohioan, born Aug. 23, 1940, to Paul and Madonna Mumper in Loudonville. She is survived by her husband, Maurice of North Royalton; brother Joseph Mumper (wife Mary) of Stow; niece Melissa Walter (husband Erik and children Hannah, Noah, and Isaiah) of Concord Township; and niece Elizabeth Mumper of Stow.
After graduation from Mount Vernon High School, Joan attended Bowling Green State University, Ohio State University and Colorado State University with B.A. and M.A. degrees and graduate-level work in English and library science. She worked as a secondary school teacher in Ohio, New York, Colorado and New Mexico; and as a librarian in Colorado public schools, the Teledyne-WaterPik Corporation and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She and her husband met in Colorado and were married for 46 years.
At Joan's request, there will be no memorial service. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Snyder Funeral Homes of Loudonville. Joan's ashes, like those subsequently of her husband, will be interred in a plot next to the graves of her parents in Loudonville cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Stay-a-While Cat Shelter, at 12662 York-Delta Road in North Royalton, OH 44133.
