Ohio job listings posted online increase by 1,738 ads

The number of online Ohio job listings increased by 1,738 ads for the period beginning Aug. 14 through Sept. 13.

According to a release from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, 60,930 job openings were posted online to the Central Ohio Online network during the month-long period, representing a decrease of 1,738 compared to the previous month, and an increase of 9,791 ads compared to the same period of the prior year.

More than half of all job offerings are within the median salary range. The upper middle-income job category is the most extensive salary range represented by all job ads, with 27% of job ads offering salaries of $50,000 to $79,000 annually. In second place was the middle-income jobs category, with 24.1% of job ads offering salaries of $30,000 to $49,000 annually.

College-educated job applicants are in demand, with 42.3% of all job offerings requiring at least a bachelor’s degree. This compares to 39.2% of all job offerings that listed a high school diploma or GED as a requirement.

The top three certifications for jobs were all driver's licenses, with 7,829 job ads listing a driver's license as a requirement, 3,472 ads listing a commercial driver's license, and 2,355 job ads listing a Class A commercial driver's license as a requirement.

Top skills in demand are customer service, listed on 11,560 job ads, operations on 8,623 job ads, and scheduling on 8,476 job ads.

The three occupations with the highest number of local job ads were heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers, with 3,209 job ads; software developers, with 2,159 job ads; and first-line supervisors of retail sales workers, with 2,044 job ads.

The top three employers with the most local job ads were Nationwide Children's Hospital, with 1,940 job ads; J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., with 1,341 job ads; and Amazon, which listed 860 job ads.

Numbers represent job ads for Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Knox, Licking, Logan, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union counties.
