MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team (27-6, 12-6 CL) clinched the fourth seed and home court advantage in the Crossroads League Tournament quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over the University of Saint Francis (14-17, 8-10 CL) on Oct. 29 in Ariel Arena.
MVNU’s sweep included victories of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-10 over the Cougars of Saint Francis.
Ashley Stumperth led MVNU with 12 kills on the afternoon and Erica Gasser, and Abbey Niemesh each added eight kills. Freshman Jaelyn Tang added seven kills, eight digs and four assists. Paige Brenner had 29 assists, six digs and five kills on the day, and Molly Galaszewski led the team with 18 digs.
The Lady Cougars will host a Crossroads League Tournament quarterfinal match Saturday, Nov. 5. They will play RV Bethel University. The time for the match will be announced in the coming days.
