MOUNT VERNON – This year, Food For The Hungry has established a financial goal of $250,000 and hopes to collect as many non-perishable food items as the community can donate.
The Food For The Hungry of Knox County’s grant application process for the 2022 campaign is now open and will remain open until noon on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Applications submitted after noon on Nov. 15 will not be accepted.
The FFTH executive board allocates a portion of the goal for the winter grant applications to nonprofit groups in Knox County that distribute food to those in need.
Food for the Hungry welcomes applications for grants of up to $2,000 per organization. Grants are awarded with consideration of the number of people being served, the number of monthly volunteers involved and other factors detailed in the application.
The grant application is at FoodForTheHungryCares.org. The application link can be found on the home page or under the “Who We Help” tab. Grant awardees will be notified by Monday, Dec. 5, and will be announced during the Food For The Hungry live video and radio broadcast on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Memorial Theater inside the Knox Memorial.
Throughout the next five weeks, the Mount Vernon News, WNZR 90.9 FM, KnoxPages.com, Oldies 100.9/13WMVO, and 93.7 The Super Q will provide information and articles about the needs, announcements and important notices about upcoming Food For The Hungry events.
