The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s soccer team (7-3-5, 2-1-4 CL) played to a 1-1 draw with Spring Arbor University (4-4-7, 1-1-5) on Saturday, Oct. 22, at CH4 Stadium in Mount Vernon.
The visitors got on the scoresheet in the 24th minute as Abdulrahman Al-Rashe scored from a Jeff Victoria cross to make it 1-0 to Spring Arbor. Spring Arbor had a defender sent off in the 65th minute after receiving a second yellow card, allowing MVNU back into the match. The hosts were outplayed by their opponents throughout much of the match but stuck around close enough to pull level in the 76th minute thanks to a Jordan McMahon goal.
Both teams had chances in the closing minutes, but MVNU had a few of the better chances late. Neither team was able to capitalize on its opportunities, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Joshua Dunn made four saves in goal for MVNU.
