MOUNT VERNON – Charles "Chuck" Flynn, 87, passed away, surrounded with his loving family by his side on Oct. 13, 2022.

Charles was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Mount Vernon to the late Robert Jand Viola (Hissong) Flynn.

Charles was a lifetime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Graduated 1954 From St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.

On May 4, 1957, he joined in Marriage to Barbara A Thatcher in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Charles profession included becoming a Pattern maker for Cooper Bessemer then went to building homes with Dawson Construction Company.

He then followed his dream with music. He became a member for the Queen of country music Loretta Lynn and the Coal Miners band. He enjoyed his travels and talking about his journeys. He also appeared in the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" Chuck played in all the states except Alaska, also traveled to various countries as well.

Charles came home from the road in 1983 and opened his music store, "Flynn's Guitar" Chuck had many regulars that would come in just to join in good conversation and laughter.

Charles is a lifetime member of the Nashville musicians Union. Chuck was a legend to this community and will continue to be.

Chuck loved his music along with fishing, boating, mushroom hunting and visiting many casinos. Most of all, he loved to tell his jokes.

Charles is survived by his wife of 65yrs Barbara A. (Thatcher) Flynn; Children:

Brenda (Bill) Heagy, Lawrence PA. Robert (Bob) Flynn "Mindy Osborne" Vonore, TN. Christina M. (Mark) Whitacre, Mount Vernon, OH. Craig (Tracy) Flynn, Sheffield, AB.

Twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews and his Aunt Margie Hissong.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his Sister's Carol Todd, Patrice Rioux and one brother James Flynn, also a grandson Andrew C. Hanchey and Great granddaughter McKayla McCloud.

The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. The Rosary will be recited following the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Mount Vernon with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
