Entering Week 7 of the 2022 high school football schedule, the Ohio High School Athletic Association released its official weekly football computer ratings Tuesday.
The computer ratings are released every Tuesday beginning in the fifth week of the season, leading up to the final report on Sunday, Oct. 23, when 448 schools – the top 16 in each region – will qualify for the playoffs.
There are 711 schools in this week’s 11-player football computer ratings. The 72 largest schools are in Division I, while the remaining schools are divided equally in divisions II through VII (approximately 106 schools in each division). The top 20 schools in each region are listed by division and region. The football page at OHSAA.org includes an explanation of how the ratings are calculated. The top 16 teams in each region in the final report will qualify for the playoffs.
Local schools that made the top 20 include:
Div 5, Region 18 – Highland (4-2) was ranked 10th, maintaining its position for the third straight week, and Fredericktown (4-2) moved up four spots for the second consecutive week to jump to No. 11. Liberty Center remains No.2 at 6-0.
Div. 5, Region 19 – Centerburg (5-1) dropped two places in the rankings to No. 7, and Utica (2-4) fell one spot to the No. 14 ranking. Ironton (6-0) continues as No. 1
Div. VI, Region 23 – Mount Gilead (4-2) continues to accelerate in the rankings. After gaining three positions last week, the Indians picked up another spot to rank No. 6. Northmor (4-2) lost a tough 22-15 decision to Fredericktown, and the computer dropped it from No.3 to No. 10. East Knox (2-4) maintained its position at No. 17.
