MOUNT VERNON – Ruby I. Deskins, 86, of Mount Vernon went to be with the Lord on Aug. 21, 2022, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born May 29, 1936, to Flem and Bessie (Bacon) Bennett of Fredericksburg, Missouri.

Ruby devoted her life to her others, especially her family. She was selfless, always putting others first, especially her husband, Irvin, and her children. She was a homemaker and worked hard to raise her family in a loving and caring home. She was a faithful Christian and a long-time member of the Church of Christ. She had many talents and interests. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved to travel. Ruby embraced moving all over the country (and world) with her military husband and supported his career throughout his service. Ruby and her husband, Irvin, also traveled the country in their RV over many years. Ruby loved all kinds of music and loved to dance. She was quick to smile/laugh and lived life with a grateful heart and a positive spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband, Irvin, of 66 years; sons David Deskins of Princeton, IN, and Mike (Dewayne) Deskins of Fort Worth, TX; daughters Lisa (Gary) Hickerson of Smyrna, TN, and Beth (Jim) Eyster of Centerburg, OH; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Smith, Joan Funkhouser and Audrey Jones.

Small graveside service for the family will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. at East View Cemetery, Croton Road County Road 21, Centerburg, OH 43011.
