Lady Pirates top Northridge, 3-0

Cardington-Lincoln started the net season with a straight-set victory over Northridge, 25-14, 25-12, 25-15, Aug. 19.

Lady Pirates coach Ryan Treese said the team was locked in to start the season.

“The key stat is that we had 46 kills as a team,” he said.

Leading the way was Audrey Brininger with 17 kills, followed by Maddie Linkous with 10, of which five came from the back row.

“Maddie has developed into a weapon offensively in the back row," Treese said. "Cadie Long is also still holding down the back row defensively."

Long had 17 digs. Jadine Mills had 37 assists and four kills from the back row.

Reese was happy with the result, but is looking for more.

“One thing that has to improve if we are going to make a deeper run than last year's regional semi, is serving. We also have to be more aggressive. But, we are 1-0,” Treese said.
