This year’s artsIQ cast will be featured in the Community Corner at Experience Mount Vernon First Friday. The cast will be performing songs from Shrek JR just like all of you did for your shows. The September emphasis for Community Corner is Education and will feature booths from all of our local colleges. The MTVarts theme for the evening is “I’m a Believer in artsIQ.” Because we all know the value of arts education!

We will have platforms set up on East Gambier between the Mexican restaurant and the former First Merit Bank but also spill onto the street. Our time slot for Friday September 2nd is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In between our Shrek JR cast performances, we are inviting YOU to come back and singalong to some old favorites from past shows.

Here’s a list of the songs we are singing:

Little Mermaid: Part of Your World; Under the Sea

Aladdin: Friend Like Me; A Whole New World

Alice in Wonderland: Very Merry Unbirthday; Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Annie: Tomorrow; Hard Knock Life

Lion King: Hakuna Matata; I Just Can’t Wait to be King

Willie Wonka: Pure Imagination; Candy Man Can

Frozen: Let it Go; First Time in Forever

Shrek: I’m a Believer

The Google drive with the rehearsal tracks we will be playing, so you can refresh your memory, can be found at https://tinyurl.com/3dcar94x.

Please let us know if you can come back on Sept. 2 and join in.

RSVP and share a short blurb about what artsIQ meant to you, what you are up to now, and why arts education is important at https://tinyurl.com/yckpe9yy.

The Shrek cast will perform at the beginning and end of the evening. Their last song will be “I’m A Believer.” Immediately following we want to repeat “I’m A Believer” and fill the streets with artsIQ believers in a flash mob!

Visit https://tinyurl.com/yfkdrhr9 for the choreography. We practice the next two Saturday mornings at Coshocton Avenue First Church of the Nazarene FLC gymnasium. Feel free to join in the choreo rehearsal around 11:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to join the flash mob – hey, let’s fill all of Main Street! So invite your friends and family. Help us spread the word!

Thanks

Your artsIQ First Friday team – Director Bruce Jacklin, Producer Janis Stone, Workshop Director Christan Sears, Co-Director Caroline Pletcher, Stage Manager Serra Barrett, Publicity/Social Media Manager Ian Ernsberger, and many more.
