MOUNT VERNON – Karen Anne Silverwood, 75, of Sunbury passed away at her residence on Aug. 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was the second born to Chester and Reynetta (Yerian) Silverwood on July 8, 1947, in Mount Vernon.

She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1965 and Ohio State University in 1981.

Karen loved poetry; her book “Silver Tears” was published in 1970. She also loved photography and art. She embraced the beauty of life and cared deeply for her family and friends.

Karen is remembered fondly by her devoted friend and companion of 44 years, Louise Douce; a sister, Linda (William) Casto; best friend Tracy Trout; six nieces and nephews; and many grand nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Silverwood; her niece, Stephanie Silverwood; and her former husband, Douglas Demmon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your favorite charity or to Nationwide Children’s Hospital of Columbus in Karen’s name. May she be remembered as a creator of beauty, and for her compassion, kindness and generosity for all whom she loved.

Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 12, from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home ~ Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon at 2:30 p.m.
