A Mount Vernon woman was killed in a car crash Aug. 1 near Airport Road in Miller Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Samantha O'Rourke, 31, was pronounced dead on the scene after her 2014 Hyundai was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Vince C. Arthur, the patrol said in a news release.

Arthur, of Rhineyville, Kentucky, was traveling southbound on state Route 661 at about 6:47 p.m. when he "drove left of center" and struck O'Rourke's car as she drove northbound, according to the patrol.

A passenger, Levi O'Rourke, 33, was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center with "serious injuries," the patrol said. Two juveniles in the car were flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital, also with serious injuries. Arthur had minor injuries and was taken to Knox Community Hospital.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this case," the news release said. The accident remains under investigation.

Everyone involved in the accident was wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
