MOUNT VERNON – Mary Bumpus was installed as Lions Clubs district governor at ceremonies in Montreal, Canada, during their international convention. She was sworn in by newly elected Lions International President Brian Sheehan from Minnesota.

Bumpus will serve as one of seven district governors in Ohio who will direct the state’s Lions programs and lead the local Lions clubs of their district. Bumpus will govern the Lions in 50 clubs from 17 counties of Central and Southeastern Ohio bordered by the Ohio River from Marietta to Ironton, north to Fredericktown and east to Coshocton, Zanesville and back to Marietta. She will also oversee the LEOs in 20 LEO Clubs (the Lions youth clubs).

Bumpus lives in Mount Vernon and is a member of the East Knox Lions Club in Howard (Apple Valley). She has been a Lion since 2000 and has served in many leadership positions on the Club, Zone, District and State level. Bumpus has received the Dream Achiever’s Award and a Membership Key for bringing in four new members. She has completed Regional Lions Leadership Institute (Level 2) and has completed her bachelor's degree from Lions University. Bumpus has received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the highest award in Lions.

Mary is an avid quilter and a 12-year member of The Eastern Star and enjoys traveling with her husband of 47 years, Tom, and family dog, Lily.
