MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team announced its schedule for the fall 2022 season.
The Lady Cougars, who finished 27-9 overall last year and were 11-7 in Crossroads League competition, will play 33 regular-season games. The schedule carries opponents from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia.
Play begins with scrimmages Aug. 13 vs. both Ohio Christian University and University of Rio Grande at Ariel Arena. The Lady Cougars play another scrimmage Aug. 16, as they host University of Northwestern Ohio. Gametime is to be announced.
The regular season begins in the Onset Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Lady Cougars take on Mount Mercy University and the University of Northwestern Ohio on Aug. 19 before taking on Indiana University East and Indiana University Northwest on Aug. 20.
MVNU then plays in the Lourdes University Tri-Tournament on Aug. 27 against Saint Xavier and Lourdes. MVNU's first home match of the season is against the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Aug. 29.
MVNU hits the road again for another invitational, this time at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich., on Sept. 2-3 before opening Crossroads League play at Indiana Wesleyan University on Sept. 7.
The Lady Cougars will host two tri-tournaments during the course of the 2022 season, with the first coming on Sept. 10 against Thomas More University and West Virginia Tech. MVNU's second tri-tourney is set for Oct. 8. The Lady Cougars will play Trinity International University and Lourdes University in Ariel Arena.
MVNU's final game of Crossroads League play and of the regular season comes against the University of Saint Francis on October 29. The Crossroads League Tournament quarterfinals take place the following week on Nov. 5.
