Postseason awards keep piling in for Kenyon Owls athletes. This time, Kenyon's swimming and diving team student-athletes have been recognized for scholarship.
The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently released the names of those swimmers and divers who were awarded spots on the Scholar All-American Team for the 2021-22 season, and the lists included 16 Kenyon men and 15 Kenyon women.
The national champion Kenyon College women’s swimming and diving team’s 15 honorees were split into first- and second-team designations. To qualify for the Scholar All-America first team, a student-athlete needed a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and had to participate in the national championship meet. Second-team selections also earned a 3.50 grade point average or better and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.
A dozen of Kenyon’s 15 student-athletes listed made the first-team cut. That group was Kate Alexy, Ania Axas, Kira Bowling, Celia Ford, Sydney Geboy, Crile Hart, Jordan Herrera, Sarah Hoffman, Sydney McCallie, Emmie Mirus, Sophie Schmitz and Alexandra White.
Hart and Mirus are now four-time recipients of the CSCAA academic award.
Collecting positions on the second team for Kenyon were Ana Dunn, Anna Clare Fleenor and Racine Ross.
The 16 members of the Kenyon College men’s swimming and diving team who achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and who qualified for the NCAA Championship included 10 student-athletes who made that first-team cut. The honorees were Drew Albrecht, Joe Black, Daniel Brooks, Mason Fishell, David Fitch, Bryan Fitzgerald, Noah Hargrove, Marcus Hong, Spencer Pruett and Luis Weekes.
CSCAA second-team award honors went to Kenyon’s Aidan Clarkson, Ben Czech, Nicholas Hong, Mart Niehoff, Liam Sweeney and Cam Williston.
Pruett is now a three-time winner of the CSCAA’s academic award, while Albrecht, Fishell, Fitch, Fitzgerald, both Marcus and Nicholas Hong, Weekes and Czech are two-time winners.
