MOUNT VERNON – Allen Thomas Myers, 66, a lifetime resident of Mount Vernon, passed away June 20, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 26, 1956, in Mount Vernon to John and MaryJane (Vail) Myers.
Allen graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1975. He was employed by Big Bear and later for UPS Freight where he worked for 25 years, retiring in May 2022. Allen was a member of the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene. He loved to go antiquing. He collected antiques, especially old radios. He enjoyed picture taking of old trucks and riding his bicycle. He was an avid OSU football fan and looked forward to watching the Mount Vernon High School Boys Basketball team every year.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann (Frazee) Myers, one brother Mike (Sherrie) Myers of Fredericktown; two sisters Jody (Jerry) Fall of Florida and Carol Ann (Ray) Reed of Mississippi; and two feline companions Milkshake and June.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his only daughter Angela Kay Myers July 10, 2019, one brother Bill Myers, and nephew Rob Forman.
Calling hours will be held at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home on Friday June 24, from 1-3 p.m., where a Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Scott Sharpes officiating.
