One day after collecting All-Region accolades from two different organizations, Kenyon College senior Alex Gow was named a member of the D3baseball.com All-America team.
D3baseball.com made the announcement Wednesday, after sorting through more than 1,000 nominations.
Gow, who was honored as a member of the third team, becomes the Kenyon baseball program’s first D3baseball.com All-American since the organization began selecting national honors following the 2007 season.
Among all players in NCAA Division III, Gow wrapped up his 2022 campaign ranked No. 15 in earned run average (1.75), No. 19 in strikeouts per nine innings (13.37) and No. 20 in strikeouts (99).
In the Kenyon record book, Gow set the new program standard for strikeouts per nine innings. His strikeout total was second best and his earned run average was fifth best in the team’s single-season record book.
Despite going through two pandemic-shortened seasons, Gow now holds the Kenyon career record for strikeouts per nine innings (11.72) and ranks fifth in career strikeouts (198) and eighth in career earned run average (3.55).
During the 2022 season, Gow made 10 starts. He had four complete games and worked one out shy of 67 innings. In that span, he generated a 7-1 record, a 1.75 earned run average, a 1.08 WHIP and .223 batting average against. He fanned 99 and walked just 17.
Because of his versatility, Gow was named to the All-America team as a utility player.
When he wasn’t pitching, he took on first-base duties and batted third in the Kenyon order. From that spot, he produced a .293 batting average with eight doubles and five home runs. He scored 28 runs and racked up 27 RBIs. He also stole three bases and finished the season with .396 on-base percentage.
