NEWARK – The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology presents Wildlife@The Works, an event in the LeFevre Courtyard at the museum’s outdoor habitat exhibit.

Join The Works on Saturday, June 11, for activities from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and enjoy the full museum from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Families can explore and learn about Ohio’s nature and wildlife while attending this event.

During Wildlife@The Works, the museum and habitat exhibit will have interactive stations from community partners including Bugman Education, The Dawes Arboretum, The Granville Sustainability Project, Ohio Nature Education and Walking Wild Fox Rescue and Wolf Dog Sanctuary. Kids can decorate their own butterfly wings or learn about how earthworms play a role in helping plants grow. Special guests will discuss wildlife and nature and give tips on how to help protect habitats.

“In addition to the event activities, guests will spot a variety of new features in our habitat garden, including topiary animals, flower sculptures and a large-scale nature mural,” said Works Executive Director Janice LoRaso. “The vibrancy and beauty of the garden is growing each year, and it is the perfect setting for our wildlife event.”

While attending Wildlife@The Works, visitors will also get the chance to watch special presentations with live animals. Ohio Nature Education will present “Birds of Prey” at 11:30 a.m. starring screech owls and an American kestrel. Bugman Education will be presenting the “Bug Stage Show” at 1:30 p.m. starring a variety of insects. A glassblowing demonstration will take place at 1:00 p.m. and 30-minute SciDome planetarium shows are showing at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Entrance to all shows are on a first-come, first-served basis.
