Simpson finishes perfect-perfect game as Lady Pirates sink Columbus 14-0

On a day in which the Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates smacked out 26 hits, C-L pitcher Ari Simpson didn’t need that kind of support as she threw a perfect game against Columbus North International in a 14-0 victory.

Simpson was perfect, needing only 72 pitches in the five innings to strike out all 15 CNI Lady Lions she faced. Simpson wasn’t done there; she was also perfect at the plate, with a 3-for-3 day.

If Simpson’s commanding game wasn’t enough, Cardington put the game away in the first with a 13-run stampede.

Hailee Edgell, Emalee Artz and Genevieve Longsdorf each smashed home runs, and Edgell had four RBIs, with Artz driving in three to lead the C-L onslaught. Among Cardington’s 26 hits, Simpson got three hits, as did Cadie Long, while seven Lady Pirates connected for two hits apiece.
