MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Department of Job & Family Services is continuing to recognize community partners and individuals who assist in reaching the agency’s

mission of making the lives of children and families better.

May’s Community Impact Award goes to Joy Harris, Executive Director of Interchurch Social Services. Interchurch’s mission, as a faith-based ministry, is to unite community

resources to meet the needs of those is crisis.

For many years, Knox County JFS and Interchurch Social Services have worked in collaboration to make the lives of families living in Knox County better. Interchurch has

assisted JFS annually in administering the distributed of school clothing/supply vouchers to the community, funded by JFS.

“Your services, in conjunction with benefits provided by us here at Knox County Department of Job and Family Services, make a difference in the lives of members of our

community,” said Karen Hughett, JFS Public Assistance Supervisor. “We, as well as the community, are grateful for the services you provide at Interchurch Social Services of

Knox County. Thank you, Joy, and your team, for all that you do and continue to do. We all appreciate your work.”

For its part, Knox County JFS has annually contributed to Food For The Hungry campaign, which benefits food pantries such as the one at Interchurch, and our staff have

volunteered their time to assist at Interchurch’s Mount Vernon location by organizing donations for distributions.
