The next meeting of the Knox County Historical Society will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum, 875 Harcourt Road in Mount Vernon.

The program will be presented by Susan Ramser and colleagues, who will relate the story of the fight for women’s suffrage in America. Included among the suffragettes portrayed will be Amelia Bloomer, who published her newspaper in Mount Vernon in 1854, and Licking County native Victoria Woodhull, who became famous for her outspoken views on women’s rights while a candidate for the United States presidency in 1872.

The meeting and program are free and open to the public, and all people interested in local history are encouraged to attend.
