MEADVILLE, Pa. – Nine different Kenyon College players scored goals Saturday as the Ladies' lacrosse team handed the previously unbeaten Allegheny College Gators a 16-5 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss on the blue turf at Robertson Athletic Complex.

The result moved Kenyon’s season record to 7-1, including a 1-0 mark in NCAC play. Through eight games, that’s the best start to a season for the Ladies since the 2010 team broke out of the gates with a perfect 8-0 record.

On the other bench, the Gators fell to 6-1 overall and 0-1 in conference competition.

Allegheny’s Liz Dolan notched the first goal of the game. After that, it was all Kenyon. Julia Losey scored two first-period goals, while Maddie Garner had a goal and an assist that steered the Ladies to a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play.

In the second period, Ella Murphy scored twice, while Tatumn Eccleston, who already scored once in the first, tacked on another goal and an assist. The Ladies, who scored seven straight times from the end of the first through the beginning of the second periods, took a comfortable 11-2 lead into the halftime break.

Murphy opened third-period play with another goal, giving the Ladies a 10-goal cushion and kick-starting the running clock rule. Murphy ended up with three goals in the game, sharing the team lead with Garner, who shared with Eccleston the team lead in points. Garner had four points on three goals and an assist, while Eccleston rang up two goals and two assists.

The Gators matched the Ladies’ fourth-period output, 3-3, but the Kenyon lead was never less than 10 in the final frame.

In addition to Losey and Eccleston, Brett Bearrows also scored twice for Kenyon. The other four goals came from Blythe Karras, Caroline O’Neil, Arielle Dumalac and A.J. Sion. Both O’Neil and Karras had one assist, as well.

Kenyon outshot Allegheny, 39-14, and put up a big 20-4 advantage in ground balls.

Nola Garand played the duration in front of the Kenyon cage and made seven saves.
