Freddie Girls pin first loss on Tree of Life, 52-51 in OT

Fredericktown hosted previously unbeaten Tree of Life onSaturday, and after a senior night celebration, withstood a strong start by the favored Lady Trojans. The Lady Freddies came on in the third quarter and played a tight game the rest of the way, forcing an overtime and eking out a 52-51 win at home. The loss, Tree of Life’s first this season, dropped them to 17-1 – they remain 10-0 in Mid-Ohio Christian play. The OT win improved Fredericktown to 14-7 overall and they remain 7-5 in KMAC games.

The Lady Trojans took an 11-8 lead after one, with Audrey Bouton scoring six of the Freddies’ eight first-quarter points. Four scorers divvied up 11 points for Fredericktown in round two, but the still-unbeaten Lady Trojans took command and built a 27-19 lead at halftime.

A big quarter by Fredericktown saw 16 points put on the board, six by Gabby Daniels. Freddies defense held TOL to eight points and the score was tied at 35-35 entering the fourth. A tightly contested fourth made points hard to come by, and 10 points for each team was enough to force overtime at 45-45, as Cally Carpenter and Jill Bouton sank long threes and Daniels made two from two-point range for Fredericktown.

In overtime, Daniels hit two from the field and one at the line to take home the win. Fredericktown was led by Gabby Daniels with 18 points, Cally Carpenter with 11 and Audrey Bouton with 10. Freshman Gianna Lane led all scorers with 25 points for Tree of Life.
