MOUNT VERNON – Ronald Louis Spearman, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1936, in Mount Vernon to the late Harry Alfred and Lena Pearl (Giffin) Spearman.
Ronald honorably served his country in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and retired from Licking Rural Electric as a line supervisor. He was a faithful member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. In his free time, Ronald enjoyed camping, cruises and traveling. He loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ronald was also an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ronald is survived by his daughters, Debbie Spearman of Columbus, Denise (James) Justice of Mount Vernon and Donita (Steve) Murray of Apple Valley; grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Barron, John (Jenn Youngless) Justice, Madison and Alexa Murray; great-grandchildren, Carter, Isabel and Kailee Barron; brother, Ralph (Darlene) Spearman of Katy, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and good friend Larry Hoy Page.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Humbert) Spearman; a brother, Robert Spearman; and his sister, Ruth Louise Bierly.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 North Mulberry St., Mount Vernon with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Ronald will be laid to rest beside his wife, Betty Lou, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
