The East Knox boys bowling team currently sits in third place in KMAC play with a 4-3 record, with two losses -- to Cardington and Crestline (by about 70 pins) – occurring early in the season.

According to EK bowling coach Chip Pozderac, “Will Jensen (sophomore) is again our leader, with Dylan Reed, Aiden Kierns, Jordan Hull (also all sophomores) and Lucas Barnard (senior) the mainstays of the varsity. Lane Lashley (sophomore) and juniors Wyatt Ary and Colin Baxter (all first-year bowlers) are working hard, each with strong showings.”

While the EK girls have started at 0-7, Pozderac sees improvement and a solid work ethic from the team. Pozderac said, “On the girls side, we are led by freshman Chloe Stevens, our No.1 bowler, sophomore Olivia Nastasi (Olivia is a first-year bowler, having played basketball for me last year) and our No. 1 senior, Paige Stover. Other first-year bowlers who are getting better every day are Miale Hurlow (another former basketball player) Riley Cree, Madi Frost, Hailey Baker, McKayla Blakely and Alanna Goheen.”

In the Jan. 5 contest against Northmor, won by EK 2,006-1,896, the Bulldogs were led by Jensen, who rolled a 211 and 201; Reed, who bowled 191 and 201; Jordan, with a 188 and 127; and Lane with a 115 and 189. Earlier in the season, Jensen was credited with a 269 vs. Fredericktown, 235 against Cardington-Lincoln and 231 against Mount Gilead. Reed rolled a 214 against Centerburg and 200 vs. Crestline.

The girls team was led by Stevens with a 136-134 and Nastasi’s 123-114. Earlier this year, Nastasi’s high games were 179 vs. Centerburg and 175 against Ridgedale. Stevens hit 173 against the Freddies and 149 vs. Ridgedale. Stover, who missed the match against Northmor, rolled 135 and 132 against Fredericktown.
