Voting for Mount Vernon's Festival of Lights officially closed at midnight Dec. 7, and three winners were announced the following day via a Facebook video featuring Mayor Matt Starr.

Winners were decided by votes (likes on Facebook) and are as follows:

• 1st Place and Best Gingerbread Display: 6 North Monroe St.
• 2nd Place and Brightest Lights Display: 1107 Oak St. Extension
• 3rd Place and Most Colorful Display: 500 E. Burgess St.

"Congratulations to all winners," event organizers said in a Facebook post. "All Festival of Lights approved to participate houses will receive a $10 gift card to a downtown establishment. 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place [winners will] get additional value added to their cards. Thank you to Knox County Foundation for sponsoring the event this year to make it possible."
