In recent years, Main Street Mount Vernon's Design Committee has replaced most of the bulbs featured in the city's downtown Christmas light decorations.
"This update replaced many old and dimming bulbs, as well as converted the grayish hue with the warmer yellow-ish hue we now have," MSMV noted on its Facebook page.
The replacement project was underwritten not only by Ariel Foundation, but also by several other donors, including the Walter Rudin Fund, which helped with bulb replacement in the PUblic Square arches and assisted with obtaining new rope lights for the Cooper Water Fountain.
The City of Mount Vernon Streets and Parks departments set up the light displays, wrapping trees, replacing bulbs and draping lights with help from TruCut Landscaping and Lawn Care.
"Thank you to all that helped make these breathtaking scenes possible. Happy holidays," the post said.
