On Nov. 27, Danville evened its record at 1-1 as the Blue Devil boys basketball team held Delaware Christian to 39 points for the game. The Blue Devils rode a big second quarter into the second half to defeat the Eagles by 18 points – 57-39.

Following an 11-11 first quarter, Danville put on a 23-9 scoring show in the second, propelled by seven points from Spencer Payne, five from Darren Mickley and four each from Walker Weckesser and Kendall Carter.

Holding the 34-20 halftime lead, the Blue Devils gained a point from an 11-10 third, with six points from Cam Miller. In the fourth, Danville added another point to the advantage with a 12-11 frame on contributions from six scorers.

For the game, Danville received scoring contributions for 10 different players. Payne and Walker Weckesser scored 11 points each to lead the Blue Devils. Wyatt Weckesser and Mickley scored eight each

Danville coach Matt Moore said, “We played well the first half. We missed a lot of easy shots and missed way more free throws than I’d like. We had very balanced scoring and shared the ball well as a team.”
