It will be a Country Christmas this year at the 21st annual Christmas Walk and Charity Auction on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 3 - 7 p.m.
Though there have been many adaptations to this event, what has not changed is the partnership with Food For The Hungry of Knox County to help raise funds to support Fredericktown Interchurch, the Fredericktown Salvation Army and the Fredericktown Community Relief Fund.
The Charity Auction
The Charity Auction has a new twist this year.
There will be two auctions for twice the fun and goodies.
The live auction will be held in the newly renovated Council Chambers (formerly senior citizen building). This will be a food auction.
Donations can be dropped off at Council Chambers between noon - 3 p.m. on Dec. 4 – the day of the Fredericktown Christmas Walk.
Due to the success of the virtual auction on Facebook last year, it will be offered again this year. Donations are needed to make this a success. Families, friends, neighbors, churches and organizations are encouraged to partner to create baskets, service offerings and gift certificates to donate. Drop off items at Fredericktown Interchurch between Nov. 29 and Dec. 1. Late submissions will not be accepted.
The Facebook auction will begin Dec. 5 and go until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 11. Items and instructions on how to bid can be viewed in person during the walk at Fredericktown Interchurch or on the Fredericktown Christmas Walk Facebook page.
5K Run/Walk
Register for the annual 5K fun run or walk at the link found on the Christmas Walk Facebook page. Holiday costumes are welcomed and encouraged. Gather at the gazebo at 2:30 p.m. to begin. The run will end at the gazebo for the official lighting of the Christmas tree.
Commemorative ornament
The County Christmas theme this year will be represented by a traditional winter scene and featured on the annual ornament. Ornaments may be purchased in advance by contacting Joely Leply at TD Landscape or on the day of the event at the craft/vendor exhibits at the Presbyterian Church. They also may be purchased at Aunt Ruth's Attic 167 N. Main St. This unique ornament was created by a local business, Traditions Engraving, and will be on display at Aunt Ruth’s Attic, in Fredericktown and at Park National Bank, FC Bank and the Fredericktown Library.
Crafters and vendors return to the Fredericktown Presbyterian Church, 17 S Main Street.
There will be ice sculptures, the gingerbread house contest at the Masonic Lodge, crafts for kids at the Baptist church, and Santa at the gazebo. A wagon ride to Sockman Park will be available to view the lights. Plus, Santa will be bringing his favorite reindeer for a visit. Local businesses will be open along Main Street.
Big Blue from WNZR will be broadcasting – stop by to register to win a Christmas stocking stuffed with goodies.
