Northridge Board of Education announced two board seat vacancies.

On Nov. 5, 2021, long-time Board of Education member and strong advocate for public education Chris Pokorny passed away suddenly. We appreciated the dedication that Chris brought to the Board of Education and the children of Northridge Local Schools. Our thoughts are with his family.  He will be deeply missed. This unexpected passing creates an immediate vacancy on the Board.

There will also be a second vacant seat in January when (Rick) Burkholder’s term expires. Due to family circumstances, Mr. Burkholder decided not to run for reelection, and no one filed to run for his empty seat. We thank Mr. Burkholder for his 8 years of service and wish him and his wife well.

Under Ohio law, the Board of Education is required to fill the vacancy on the Board within thirty days. Mr. Pokorny’s seat must be filled by Dec. 4 and Mr. Burkholder’s by Jan. 30.

Board President (Doug) Hart has asked that all individuals interested in filling the Board vacancies submit a notice of interest to him via email at djhart@laca.org by Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. Please include in your email brief information about your education history, employment history, and why you are interested in being a board member. If you have questions please call the district office at 740-967-6631. Please note there will be a second opportunity to submit your interest for the second available seat. Those who submit for the current open seat but are not appointed to fill the seat will automatically be included when the Board repeats this process to fill the second vacancy.
