Paige Brenner set a career milestone as the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team (27-8, 11-7 Crossroads League) defeated the Lake Erie College Storm (4-22, 1-10) in four games on Nov. 3, by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-23. With her 31 assists on the night, Brenner surpassed 3,000 assists for her MVNU career. The junior from Copley, Ohio, also had eight digs, two kills and one service ace.
It looked like the Storm were set to send the match into a fifth game after being up 21-16 in the fourth, but MVNU rallied back to dash any hopes of a Lake Erie comeback, taking the game 25-23.
In addition to Brenner's night on the court, Ashley Stumperth finished the match with 11 kills and 15 digs. Nicole Winkler also had a double-double, ending the contest with 10 kills and 14 digs. Abbey Niemesh had seven kills and notched a match-high .375 hitting percentage. Ellie Ruby and Molly Galaszewski had 18 digs and 13 digs, respectively
