MOUNT VERNON – Respiratory therapists across the nation were recognized for their contributions to the nation’s health-care system Oct. 24-30 as hospitals and other facilities celebrated National Respiratory Care Week.
At Knox Community Hospital, a team of licensed respiratory therapists provides compassionate, comprehensive treatment, often caring for patients diagnosed with COVID. In addition to inpatient services, the KCH team delivers outpatient services such as a sleep lab, lung disease education, COPD rehabilitation, pulmonary function tests and more.
As the key clinicians responsible for delivering hands-on care to those with asthma, COVID and other chronic and acute respiratory conditions, as well as critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation in the ICU, respiratory therapists work closely with providers, nurses, and other health-care professionals to ensure patients receive safe and effective care. National Respiratory Care Week is the perfect time to thank them for the vital role they play on the health-care team.
The KCH respiratory care staff are licensed as Respiratory Care Practitioners by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board. For more information about respiratory therapy at Knox Community Hospital, go to kch.org/respiratory-care-services.
