Blue Devils Class of 1971 met for their 50-year class reunion recently. | Submitted

DANVILLE – Blue Devil Spirit was alive and well in Eastern Knox County this past weekend as classmates of the Danville High School Class of 1971 came from near and far to reconnect and relive precious memories in honor of their 50 year class reunion.

The weekend kicked off Friday night with the class being recognized at a Danville-East Knox football game. Saturday afternoon, class members were treated to a walk down memory lane with a tour of their beloved Danville High School.

Saturday evening, the 22 classmates gathered at Taigan Hills Winery for a meal catered by Delicious Celebrations. The evening began with heartfelt prayer and memories of those lost too soon. The evening then took a turn to laughter while reliving the class's “remember when’s” and “can you imagines.” Each class member was invited to share an update on the last 50 years.

After many laughs and many tears, the old friends closed the weekend’s festivities with this thought. “We have come a long way since 1971. Our faces, figures and addresses may have changed in the last 50 years, but we will always remember the wonderful times we shared throughout our school years. Memories are one of life’s most cherished possessions.”
