Kenyon College has been named to WalletHub.com’s list of best Ohio colleges, ranking 12th in the Midwest and 83rd overall.

The data were grouped into seven categories, including student selectivity, cost and financing, and career outcomes. Metrics included student-faculty ratio, graduation rate and post-attendance median salary.

“In a fierce global economy, a college degree can help secure employment and keep you ahead of the competition,” WalletHub wrote.

According to the data, Kenyon ranked in the 92nd percentile of the colleges included in the sample, meaning it outranked all but 8% of the schools ranked. For student selectivity, the university ranked 72nd, and for campus experience, 32nd.

The data set included 1,015 colleges and universities in its ranking. Of these, Kenyon ranked 952nd for cost and financing and campus safety, 92nd for faculty resources, 62nd for education outcomes and 208th for career outcomes.

On average, tuition and room and board at a four-year college costs from $27,000 to $55,000 per year, though it varies depending on the school’s public or private status and whether it’s in-state, WalletHub said.

“Attending higher education requires more than just the grades to get in,” Wallet Hub said. “You’ll also need the financial resources to attend.”

As reported on Kenyon's website, the annual tuition and fees for 2021-22 are $63,060. Room and board (combined) are $13,310, and fees are $250, bringing the total to $76,620.

"Because all Kenyon students live on campus, room and board are not optional expenses," Keyon's website said. "There are variables that can alter the cost of going to Kenyon, such as different room charges for other housing options."

Through its ranking, WalletHub compared more than 1,000 higher-education institutions in the country across 30 key measures to determine the top-performing schools at the lowest possible costs.

“Though success ultimately rests on students’ own determination and performance, the quality of the schools they choose can certainly have an impact,” WalletHub said.
