It took less than two years of college competition, but Mount Vernon High School graduate Kimberly Trapp is now at the top of the list for the Indiana University East women's soccer team in career goals scored.
Trapp's two goals led the Red Wolves to a 2-0 River States Conference victory at Oakland City University on Monday, Oct. 18, pushing her school to an 8-6-0 record overall and 6-2 in the conference.
The former Yellow Jacket scored first at the 4:56 mark with an assist from Sophie Pohlabel. With that goal, Trapp tied her former teammate Dejhanna O'Bryant with a program-best 19th career goal as the Red Wolves led 1-0.
In the second half, Trapp moved into the top spot in school history with her 20th goal on a penalty kick at 65:24.
"I'm really honored to have beaten the record my sophomore year," Trapp said. "I couldn't have done it without my team and all of the plays that helped to build up to this moment."
This fall, Trapp leads IU East in scoring with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. In her two seasons, she has 20 goals and four assists for 44 points.
In high school for Mount Vernon, Trapp was selected to First Team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference and was named Offensive Player of the Year. She was also a member of Freedom Soccer Club and of the Ohio South Olympic Development team.
