A new company has bought Midwest Health Services and Midwest Innovations, providers of residential mental health treatment in Knox County and surrounding communities.

In a press release, ViaQuest announced the acquisition, which will affect residential services in Summit, Licking, Muskingum, Guernsey and Ross counties, as well as day program services in Knox and Licking counties.

Founded in 1999 by CEO Rich Johnson, ViaQuest describes itself as a comprehensive provider of support services to people with developmental disabilities, children and adults with mental and behavioral health care needs, and aging adults through hospice services.

Johnson said he was honored to work with Midwest President Joe Knetzer.

“Expanding our services is an honor that is personal for me,” Johnson said in the release. “After finishing my service in the United States Air Force, I entered this incredible field where I was introduced to Joe Knetzer over 25 years ago. Joe, along with his wife, Kristine, have dedicated their professional lives to serving others, and I am honored to continue the services they started as part of the ViaQuest family.”

Acquiring Midwest will allow ViaQuest to provide new services and areas of expertise, the release said. One of these includes ViaQuest’s Circle of Care approach, which is individualized and team-focused.

"We believe the best outcomes are achieved by working with the individual, their family, caregivers, county board case managers, and medical professionals to establish a comprehensive support system," the release said.
