NEWARK – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is accepting nominations for three alumni awards: the Outstanding Alumni Award, the Transitions Alumni Award and the John C. “Jay” Barker Community Service Alumni Award. The award recipients will be announced at the COTC Alumni Holiday Reception in December. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 29.
Outstanding Alumni Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize COTC alumni who have personal and/or professional achievement that brings honor and distinction to the college and individual attainment and/or contributions for the betterment of our community. The criteria for selection include the extent to which the nominee is more than “good at his/her job,” gives back to the community, is involved with the college and helps advance the college.
Transitions Alumni Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize COTC alumni currently working at the college in either a faculty or staff capacity who help advance the college and make a difference in the lives of current students. The criteria for selection include the extent to which the nominee is more than “good at his/her job,” helps advance the college and makes a difference in the lives of current students.
John C. “Jay” Barker Community Service Alumni Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize COTC alumni who have made a significant impact on their local community through their leadership, involvement and service. This award was created in memory of John C. “Jay” Barker (Business Management Technology, 1986) whose dedication to the college and the community epitomize the qualities and characteristics this award seeks to recognize. The criteria for selection include the extent to which the nominee uses his or her talents to serve the community. He or she may serve on a community board or lead a community project, inspire others to volunteer their time and talents and/or advance the college through his or her service.
To nominate an alumnus, you must submit a nomination form and supporting documentation, such as a resumé and/or written statement explaining how the candidate meets the award criteria. Additional details and nomination forms are available at cotc.edu/awards. Submissions must be received by Oct. 29.
